Your Online Presence: the CV Addendum

Overview

 

Learn to build a cohesive online identity across websites and social media, communicate your science and policy across social media platforms, and broaden your impact with the public and colleagues.  Think like a search engine so your audience can find you, and you can can display your work.

 
Speaker
 

Melissa De Witte is the Division Web Presence Coordinator for the Social Sciences Division at UC Santa Cruz.  She creates content on digital platforms to engage the public in social sciences, and many of her techniques work with environmental studies and policy as well.  She has given many talks on leveraging social media to reach target audiences and on building a cohesive online identity to deliver one's message in the Information Age.

 
Preparation for this Breakout Session

 

Participants may wish to bring their laptops to work on suggestions provided by presenter Melissa De Witte.  Resources for this topic will be provided in the section below.  The session will have ample time for questions throughout and at the end for students to inquire about the best platforms for online presence and strategies to reach the target audience.
